LEGO Worlds Has Taken Over Ours

At this year’s Sweet Suite event we saw tons of cool toys and games that we have already raved about but one particular section that caught our eye was the WB Games/LEGO video game booth that had both LEGO Worlds and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 on display.

While we CAN NOT WAIT to try out the new Marvel game, LEGO Worlds had slipped under our radar a little. We were aware and excited for it when it was first releasing back in March but with the end of the school year and a million other things going on, we simply never had a chance to try out the game. Thankfully the awesome team over at WB games sent us a copy to try on the PS4 and wow are we so glad they did!

As I’ve mentioned in the past here and on Social Media plenty, my 4 (soon to be 5) year old son LOVES all things LEGO. There are a few games he really grasps how to play and the LEGO games are some of his favorites. The simple gameplay mixed with fun storylines can keep him busy for hours but I was a little concerned that LEGO Worlds might be a bit too over his head as there is not just linear gameplay but actual world building going on.

I have to say I could not be happier that I was wrong as he has joyfully embraced the game and is fascinated building things all over the LEGO Worlds’ landscape. Moments before writing this I watched him building his own versions of bridges in the sky so he could avoid a volcano and he could not have been prouder with his accomplishment. Much like LEGOs themselves, the amount of imagination he was able to use and explore in this is exactly what I want to see in a game as a parent.

We still have a long way to go in LEGO Worlds but I just wanted to let you all know how perfect of a game it has been for us. with expansions on the way (well talk about that in the next post) I can definitely see LEGO Worlds being a staple in our home for a long time.

The game is currently on sale for $29.99 at most retailers and is available for PS4, XBOX One and PC so there is no better time to pick up a copy!

LEGO Worlds Has Arrived!!

If you’ve followed our page before, you know how absolutely crazy about LEGO my family and I are. We have the sets, we play the games, we watch the movies….If its LEGO we love it!

That being said, we are extremely excited seeing that WB Interactive and TT Games have officially released LEGO Worlds! You can check out the release trailer, photos and press release below. For $29.99 this is a no brainer for our LEGO loving clan.

Let us know if you’re playing the game and what you think so far in the comments!

The Dad World Order Holiday Gift List: Day 1

I cant believe we are only a little over a week away from Thanksgiving 2016! Now I’ll admit I am one of those people that hates when others gloss over the awesomeness that is Thanksgiving to push us into the Christmas season but as a huge fan of Christmas and the overall holiday season in general, I cant pretend seeing all of the lights and festivities doesn’t get me excited!

10258899_10156339450880582_4098147392812569896_o

With that said I wanted to talk about gift giving. I know sometimes we can all get caught up with the materialism that often surrounds this season but I also love the joy it brings me when I find the perfect gift to give someone, especially when that someone is a kid. Seeing a little ones’ eyes light up is one of the best feelings in the world and I wanted to do my part as a nerd and parent of 17 years on what I think are some of the best gifts to give this Holiday season.

I thought about what format would be best to do this in and while doing one giant list is always fun I think It would be better to focus on one single item each and every day (I might even do several items a day). This way there can be daily suggestions as well as updated info on sales or products as we approach closer to Christmas. My plan right now is to post a new item daily from now until December 15th so you get 1 full month of what I think are the best gifts you can give.

Hopefully you will all enjoy this and it will help you if you’re looking for some great gifts to give this year and if you have any ideas or suggestions for things to include just let me know in the comments or on Twitter @DadWorldOrder

With that said lets get to it!

My first pick is a big one and something I may even be asking for this Christmas and it is the Sony Playstation VR. The PSVR is definitely an expensive pickup this holiday season at $399 and requires that you already own a PS4 system ($399) and a PS Camera ($59) but for gamers looking for a new experience I cant recommend the VR add on enough. Though virtual reality is still in its infancy for home use, it is still one of the most immersive and fun ways to play games I have ever experienced.

The headset allows gamers to “go inside” of the game and actually immerse themselves in new worlds. I had the experience to try out the PSVR and I have to say I’m very excited to see where the future of virtual reality gaming is headed.

The PSVR is definitely recommended for older gamers 12 and up so this might not be the best choice for your little ones but I guarantee it will be a hit with tweens and teens alike as well as adult gamers. The PSVR is currently available at most retailers and should be in stock throughout the holiday season.

YOU DON’T KNOW JACK® Studio’s Latest Entertaining Game Bundle Features Five Completely New Titles

CHICAGO – Oct. 18, 2016 – Jackbox Games, independent developer of hilarious party games like Drawful, Quiplash and YOU DON’T KNOW JACK®, keeps the tradition of making holiday parties a roaring success with The Jackbox Party Pack 3Like its predecessors, this newest bundle in the series features five multiplayer games that use phones or tablets as controllers. By visiting Jackbox.tv and entering a room code, players anywhere in the world can join the fun – and up to 10,000 spectators can participate in the audience, in some instances affecting the outcome of the game.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 features four totally original titles: Trivia Murder Party challenges up to eight contestants to test their knowledge while being held captive by a hilariously unstable serial killer; Guesspionage is a game of percentages that asks up to eight players to guess the public’s answers to thought-provoking questions; Tee K.O. combines your artistic side with witty wordplay by turning drawings and slogans from up to eight players into hysterical T-shirts; and Fakin’ It tasks up to six players with secret, ridiculous instructions, with the exception of one clueless player who must lie and cheat to avoid being discovered as “The Faker.”

The pack’s fifth title is the exciting return of a party game favorite. Quiplash 2 is a bigger, better version of the original, with more say-anything prompts and a new final round, The Last Lash. And for the first time, Quiplash 2 allows users to write their own custom prompts, making it infinitely replayable.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 also includes improved audience and streaming features. VIP status within games allows censoring of unruly players or audience members, keeping games troll-free. And for family game nights, mature content can be eliminated in Guesspionage, Fakin’ It and Quiplash 2 with the Family Friendly Filter.

BATMAN: The Telltale Series Is Here!

As a dad and lifelong gamer I share that passion with my kids and while Telltale games are usually a little too mature for the younger ones, their releases are fantastic pieces of art for older teens and adults who want to kick back and enjoy episodic versions of some of their favorite franchises (including Walking Dead and Game of Thrones). Yesterday though, they topped all of that with the release of BATMAN – The Telltale Series Episode One: Realm of Shadows.  I can not wait to play this game. It is BATMAN arguably my favorite superhero present in an awesome comic art style and served in tasty individual episodes that completely work with my hectic schedule. I will definitely be talking more about the game in the future as I get to play and you can check out all of the official details below from Telltale.
