SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS HALLOWEEN STOP-MOTION ANIMATION SPECIAL LOOKS AWESOME!

We’re suckers for halloween specials and stop motion animation and this new SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS Halloween Special looks like exactly what we love. Premiering October 13th, THE SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS HALLOWEEN STOP-MOTION ANIMATION SPECIAL: THE LEGEND OF BOO-KINI BOTTOM looks like a new classic for kids of all ages. You can check out the official press release and trailer below!

BURBANK, Calif.—Sept. 25, 2017—Nickelodeon treats viewers to a spooky stop-motion special with the premiere of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Legend of Boo-Kini Bottom, on Friday, Oct. 13, at 7p.m. (ET/PT). The Legend of Boo-Kini Bottom tells the story of the Flying Dutchman (Brian Doyle-Murray) coming to Bikini Bottom to make sure everyone in town is scared–especially SpongeBob, who seems to be unflappable in his belief that spooky things are actually funny.

Inspired by the visual style of classic stop-motion animation TV specials, Bikini Bottom is decked out for Halloween and features Sandy’s treedome as a mad scientist’s lab, including a giant remotely operated Acorn Monster; Mr. Krabs’ restaurant as “The Horrors of the Chum Bucket,” displaying scenes of Plankton torturing food; and Plankton’s restaurant as “The Horrors of the Krusty Krab,” telling the story of Mr. Krabs turning customers into Krabby Patties and more.

The characters wear Halloween costumes, with SpongeBob as a flower, Patrick as a knight, Sandy as a mad scientist, Mr. Krabs as a dollar bill, Plankton as a devil, Squidward as himself, and Karen as a cat.SpongeBob SquarePants: The Legend of Boo-Kini Bottom features an original song, “The Scare Song,” written by Mr. Lawrence, music by Eban Schletter and performed by the Flying Dutchman’s crew of pirate ghosts.

The Legend of Boo-Kini Bottom was produced at Screen Novelties, a Los Angeles-based stop-motion animation production company, where miniature puppets and sets brought Bikini Bottom to life in three dimensions. The production featured 27 unique sets, across five stages, where 15 boxes of breakfast cereal were used to create texture on Bikini Bottom’s coral reefs; eight pounds of glitter were used to decorate SpongeBob’s Halloween pineapple house; hundreds of popsicle sticks created the planks of the rollercoaster track that Patrick and SpongeBob ride; and “black lights” were used to create a fluorescent glow across the puppets and sets.

The special features various production techniques including: stop-motion puppet animation, marionette puppeteering, hand puppets and 2D hand-drawn animation designed by Sally Cruikshank.

Marc Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller are co-executive producers on SpongeBob SquarePants. The special was written by Mr. Lawrence, with Brian Morante serving as the storyboard director and Jennie Monica as producer. The special is being directed by Mark Caballero and Seamus Walsh, and produced by Chris Finnegan of Screen Novelties.

This is the second time Nickelodeon has partnered with Screen Novelties on a SpongeBob SquarePants stop-motion episode. SpongeBob SquarePants: It’s a SpongeBob Christmas! debuted December 2012 and featured Plankton turning everybody in Bikini Bottom from nice to naughty.

Viewers can visit the SpongeBob SquarePants page on Nick.com, the Nick App and the Facebookpage, along with the SpongeBob Facebook page and SpongeBob Instagram, to get an exclusive look at the series. Episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants are currently available on the Nick App andNick.com, for download on iOS, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Android, and Android TV and Nick On Demand. Episodes are available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Vudu, Xbox, and PlayStation.

With NYCC fast approaching we are always on the lookout for awesome exclusives and this year Imaginext may have already won the prize for best in show with their Limited-Edition DC Super Friends Batbot Xtreme!

Check this bad boy out!!!!

Heres the info straight from Imaginext on how you can score one.

The Imaginext® DC Super Friends™ Batbot Xtreme is a direct nod to 2015’s “Superheavy” Batman story arc in Batman #40 to Batman #46, during which Commissioner Gordon steps into the role of Batman using a special mechanical bat-suit after Bruce Wayne is presumed dead and can’t perform Batman’s duties. Batbot Xtreme truly takes the Batman robo-suit from the series and gives it a larger than life twist in the Imaginext style.

Coinciding with the upcoming 10-year anniversary of the Imaginext and DC Super Friends partnership, this limited edition Imaginext DC Super Friends Batbot Xtreme is painted in premium metallic for a more authentic and deluxe version of the ultimate Batman toy. Exclusive New York Comic Con packaging features lights and sounds built into a fully immersive Batcave experience, offering the perfect backdrop for your entire Batman collection. Just like the original version, the NYCC exclusive stands over 2-feet tall and features everything a child – or fanboy – could want, including huge bat wings (WHOOSH!) and controllable punching fists (POW!), projectile launchers (BAM!), a Batman voice changer, a multi-level playset, and of course a Batman figure and vehicle.

Fans looking to snag a NYCC exclusive Imaginext DC Super Friends™ Batbot Xtreme will have to act fast! Retailing for $250, Imaginext has only produced 300 copies of the collectors’ edition. Here’s how you can get one:

  • NYCC Exclusive Lottery – Launching on September 14, 225 limited edition Batbots will be up for grabs through the official NYCC lottery. Registering for the lottery will guarantee that you are able to purchase a Batbot during the show. Lottery purchased Batbots will be shipped to you, courtesy of Imaginext.

http://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/Content/Pre-Show-Lotteries/

  • In-booth sales – Each day during NYCC, 10 additional Batbots will be sold on a first come, first serve basis that you can walk away with that day.
  • In-booth raffle – Each day, 1 limited edition Batbot will be raffled off to attendees who share a social post from the Imaginext booth. Visit booth #326 on the show floor for more details.

New York Comic Con will take place at the Javits Center in NYC on October 5-8, 2017. Don’t worry; if you are unable to get your hands on the NYCC exclusive, you can still find the original Batbot Xtreme now at Toys R Us, Target, and Amazon.com for $109.99.

LEGO Worlds Has Taken Over Ours

At this year’s Sweet Suite event we saw tons of cool toys and games that we have already raved about but one particular section that caught our eye was the WB Games/LEGO video game booth that had both LEGO Worlds and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 on display.

While we CAN NOT WAIT to try out the new Marvel game, LEGO Worlds had slipped under our radar a little. We were aware and excited for it when it was first releasing back in March but with the end of the school year and a million other things going on, we simply never had a chance to try out the game. Thankfully the awesome team over at WB games sent us a copy to try on the PS4 and wow are we so glad they did!

As I’ve mentioned in the past here and on Social Media plenty, my 4 (soon to be 5) year old son LOVES all things LEGO. There are a few games he really grasps how to play and the LEGO games are some of his favorites. The simple gameplay mixed with fun storylines can keep him busy for hours but I was a little concerned that LEGO Worlds might be a bit too over his head as there is not just linear gameplay but actual world building going on.

I have to say I could not be happier that I was wrong as he has joyfully embraced the game and is fascinated building things all over the LEGO Worlds’ landscape. Moments before writing this I watched him building his own versions of bridges in the sky so he could avoid a volcano and he could not have been prouder with his accomplishment. Much like LEGOs themselves, the amount of imagination he was able to use and explore in this is exactly what I want to see in a game as a parent.

We still have a long way to go in LEGO Worlds but I just wanted to let you all know how perfect of a game it has been for us. with expansions on the way (well talk about that in the next post) I can definitely see LEGO Worlds being a staple in our home for a long time.

The game is currently on sale for $29.99 at most retailers and is available for PS4, XBOX One and PC so there is no better time to pick up a copy!

TMNT x Ghostbusters Figures Out of SDCC

SDCC 2017 is upon us and while I am completely overwhelmed with all of the info coming out of the annual convention, one particular thing has completely wowed me  more than the rest and that is a TMNT x Ghostbusters mashup line of figures.

There have always been wacky TMNT figures that gave them different jobs and even ones that kind of looked like Ghostbusters a few years back but this official collaboration is absolutely amazing to a fan of both franchises like myself.

Living vicariously through my kids is one of my favorite parts of being a dad and when last year gave us the TMNT x WWE collaboration figures I didn’t think they could be topped but wow was I wrong! These new figures look great and find the turtles taking on the monikers of our favorite original ghostbuster team.

We have as follows:

Raphael as Winston Zeddemore

Leonardo as Ray Stantz

Michelangelo as Peter Venkman

Donatello as Egon Spengler.

the figures will retail for $20 each and look to be a Target exclusive so keep your eyes posted for these figures when they release this fall!

Sweet Suite 2017 Was Awesome!!!

Every year for the past several years we have had the privilege of covering the annual Blogger Bash NYC Sweet Suite event. It is an absolutely amazing night put on by the fantastic team over at The Toy Insider and it is the place to be to hear all about the newest toys kids will be going crazy for this holiday season.

My lovely wife @BlogSenorita and I spent the evening at Pier Sixty in NYC checking out all of the goodies and have so much to show you all. While we had a fantastic time as always we did especially love what Jakks Pacific is doing with their Nintendo products (Splatoon Ink shooters are sooooo fun) and how much fun Sonic Mania from Sega and Lego Marvel Heroes 2 from WB games looks.

LEGO® WORLDS

For PlayStation®4, Xbox One and STEAM

Players Can Create Anything Imaginable and Define Their Own Adventures

In the Ultimate Digital LEGO Bricks Building Experience

Burbank, Calif. – Nov. 29, 2016 – Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO® Group today announced that LEGO® Worlds, a galaxy of imaginative worlds made entirely of digital LEGO bricks where players can explore, discover and create together, will commercially launch on February 21, 2017 for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One and STEAM.  Developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, LEGO Worlds has been in STEAM Early Access since last year allowing players to provide feedback for continual improvements leading up to its official launch.

“In LEGO Worlds, players will go on an exciting journey to become a Master Builder, in an open-world made completely of LEGO-built environments,” said Jonathan Smith, Head of Production, TT Games. “Whether customizing characters, exploring in vehicles, building structures, or discovering an expansive range of items, characters and creatures throughout the worlds, there’s the freedom to create anything imaginable.”

“LEGO Worlds expands our LEGO videogame franchise with a new experience that embodies all the fun of physical LEGO brick building,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “TT Games has created an expansive, digital universe that combines unlimited creativity with the LEGO humor that fans love.”

“LEGO Worlds brings the very essence of LEGO play – building – to the digital world, more than ever before,” said Niels Jørgensen, Vice President, Digital Games for The LEGO Group. “We are excited to bring our physical and digital play models closer together and know it will resonate with our core audience – and engage new ones. We believe LEGO Worlds has the potential to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow through its experience of open-ended creative play.”

In LEGO Worlds, players uncover hidden treasures in environments that range from fun to the fantastical, where worlds come to life with a dizzying variety of vehicles and creatures – from cowboys riding giraffes to vampires scaring Yetis, to steamrollers, racing cars and colossal digging machines. Gamers can embark on a quest to become a Master Builder by helping other LEGO characters along the way – find a sword for a king, protect a farmer from a zombie invasion, or build a home for a caveman. Environments and creations are brought to life in any way fans can imagine, either by building brick by brick, placing down enormous prebuilt LEGO structures, or by using wondrous tools that let you paint and shape the landscape. LEGO Worlds’ online multiplayer functionality allows players to explore each other’s worlds together, create together, and engage in cooperative and competitive play experiences that players can build themselves.

A separate LEGO Agents DLC pack, featuring new characters, vehicles, weapons and more from the Agents range of play materials, will be available exclusively on PlayStation 4 for a limited time.

The Dad World Order Holiday Gift List: Day 3

NOTE: Apparently this didn’t post yesterday so it looks like today will be a double dose of toy goodness.

Every year or few years a toy comes out around the holidays that completely sneaks up on unsuspecting parents. There were Furby’s and Tickle Me Elmos to name a few and this year that “must have” toy is Hatchimals by Spin Master.

While those of us in the toy community have watched as Spin Master launched the Hatchimals in October to universal praise, most parents are probably just starting to “What is a Hatcnhimal?”

1cddb863-582b-481c-9857-d2ae03373c2a_1-0e653f2c99254def7ecadf13fc264236

Well basically a Hatchimal is an egg that after some care will hatch into a cute little stuffed creature which will grow and learn from being a newborn baby to a toddler to a kid over time. Its a pretty fun experience for a kid to help hatch and grow their own toy and it puts a really nice spin on the formula of raising/traing a pet (monster)

So the awesome part is that this is a really fun and great gift that any kid would love…..BUT unfortunately they are basically sold out everywhere by now. Retailing for $59.99 most are already reselling on Ebay for $150-$200, which really sucks for parents.

Spin Master who in my eyes have always been a really great company for working with parents and kids alike released the following to address the issue:

A Message From Hatchimals

The consumer response to Hatchimals has been extraordinary, exceeding all expectations. Some of our first shipments have already sold out. While additional product will hit retail shelves in November, we anticipate this inventory will also sell out quickly. We have increased production and a whole new batch of Hatchimals will be ready to hatch in early 2017. This is a special season and we don’t want anyone to be disappointed, nor do we support inflated prices from non-authorized resellers. We are working on creative solutions to help kids and their parents withstand the wait. In the interim, some retailers are developing pre-sale and/or rain-check programs for redemption in January. We will continue to update with program details as they become available.

So basically if you really want to get a Hatcnhimal for your kid or loved one you’re going to need to pay attention because my guess is many stores will be keeping their stock for Black Friday/Thanksgiving Weekend. This will probably be your last chance before Christmas unless you want to pay inflated prices from resellers so keep your eyes peeled for in stock notices. Good luck and Godspeed on your Hatcnhimal quest.
