LEGO Worlds Has Taken Over Ours

At this year’s Sweet Suite event we saw tons of cool toys and games that we have already raved about but one particular section that caught our eye was the WB Games/LEGO video game booth that had both LEGO Worlds and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 on display.

While we CAN NOT WAIT to try out the new Marvel game, LEGO Worlds had slipped under our radar a little. We were aware and excited for it when it was first releasing back in March but with the end of the school year and a million other things going on, we simply never had a chance to try out the game. Thankfully the awesome team over at WB games sent us a copy to try on the PS4 and wow are we so glad they did!

As I’ve mentioned in the past here and on Social Media plenty, my 4 (soon to be 5) year old son LOVES all things LEGO. There are a few games he really grasps how to play and the LEGO games are some of his favorites. The simple gameplay mixed with fun storylines can keep him busy for hours but I was a little concerned that LEGO Worlds might be a bit too over his head as there is not just linear gameplay but actual world building going on.

I have to say I could not be happier that I was wrong as he has joyfully embraced the game and is fascinated building things all over the LEGO Worlds’ landscape. Moments before writing this I watched him building his own versions of bridges in the sky so he could avoid a volcano and he could not have been prouder with his accomplishment. Much like LEGOs themselves, the amount of imagination he was able to use and explore in this is exactly what I want to see in a game as a parent.

We still have a long way to go in LEGO Worlds but I just wanted to let you all know how perfect of a game it has been for us. with expansions on the way (well talk about that in the next post) I can definitely see LEGO Worlds being a staple in our home for a long time.

The game is currently on sale for $29.99 at most retailers and is available for PS4, XBOX One and PC so there is no better time to pick up a copy!

Sweet Suite 2017 Swag Unboxing

As we mentioned in our last post, Sweet Suite 2017 was so much fun and one of the best parts of all is that after the fun of the night ends, you receive this MASSIVE box of goodies sent to your home with samples from many of the companies that were on display. As you can imagine our two youngest went absolutely bonkers for everything inside and have picked out a handful of toys they want to “share” (or fight over) with each other while we will be sharing the rest by doing some fun giveaways and sharing with kids in need this holiday season.

You can check out our unboxing video below an let us know what you think the coolest thing we got in the box was!!

Sweet Suite 2017 Was Awesome!!!

Every year for the past several years we have had the privilege of covering the annual Blogger Bash NYC Sweet Suite event. It is an absolutely amazing night put on by the fantastic team over at The Toy Insider and it is the place to be to hear all about the newest toys kids will be going crazy for this holiday season.

My lovely wife @BlogSenorita and I spent the evening at Pier Sixty in NYC checking out all of the goodies and have so much to show you all. While we had a fantastic time as always we did especially love what Jakks Pacific is doing with their Nintendo products (Splatoon Ink shooters are sooooo fun) and how much fun Sonic Mania from Sega and Lego Marvel Heroes 2 from WB games looks.

You can check out all of our pics below and stay tuned for our Sweet Suite Swag Unboxing and reviews!

WARNER BROS. INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT, TT GAMES AND THE LEGO GROUP LAUNCH LEGO® WORLDS  For PlayStation®4, Xbox One and STEAM

Players Can Create Anything Imaginable and Define Their Own Adventures

In Customizable Open Worlds Made Entirely of LEGO Bricks

Burbank, Calif. – March 7, 2017 – Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO® Group today announced that LEGO® Worlds, a galaxy of imaginative worlds made of digital LEGO bricks where players can explore, discover and create together, is now available for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, and STEAM. Developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, LEGO Worlds will be available for Nintendo Switch™ later this year.

In LEGO Worlds, players embark on a creative adventure to become a Master Builder and uncover hidden treasures in environments that range from fun to the fantastical, where worlds come to life with a dizzying variety of vehicles and creatures – from gingerbread men riding elephants to cavewomen scaring polar bears, to swamp police helicopters, hot air balloons and arctic snow scooters. Gamers can embark on a quest to become a Master Builder by helping other LEGO characters along the way – find a sword for an Egyptian Queen, protect a fisherman from a giant troll invasion, or build a home for a cyclops. Environments and creations are brought to life in any way fans can imagine, either by building brick by brick, placing down enormous prebuilt LEGO structures, or by using wondrous tools that let them paint and shape the landscape. LEGO Worlds’ online multiplayer functionality allows players to explore each other’s worlds together and engage in cooperative and competitive play experiences that players can build themselves.

A LEGO Agents pack, featuring new characters, vehicles, weapons and more from the Agents range of play materials, will be available exclusively on PlayStation 4 for a limited time.

New LEGO Dimensions Expansions Release Today!!

Now let me preface my post by saying in the past My kids and I have very graciously been sent some LEGO Dimensions products from WB Games and have posted some sponsored content but we did so while being incredibly thankful because we honestly LOVE everything about the game.

With that said we are extremely excited that today, November 18th, is finally the day when the newest wave of LEGO Dimension Expansion packs are releasing. There is nothing My boys and I have more fun playing with than LEGOs and LEGO Dimensions has been the absolute best way possible for me to introduce them to the world of video games. The game has allowed them to begin to understand the control schemes of modern gaming while still letting them use their creativity to build and play with LEGOs as well.

As a dad I have a blast building the characters, vehicles and sets as well as exploring the digital world with them and it has been so much fun watching them come to know so many different franchises because of it. The game literally packs in most of my childhood nostalgia with everything from Batman, Back to the future and ghostbusters and is adding even more with this current Wave of expansions.

Today’s big release includes:

  • A Sonic The Hedgehog Level Pack
  • A new Adventure Time Fun Pack (TRU Timed Exclusive)
  • A Gremlins Team Pack
  • An E.T. Fun Pack
  • A Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Story Pack
  • and an additional Fantastic Beasts Fun Pack

I can not wait to try out these new packs with my little guys and definitely stay with us as we will have unboxing and reviews coming along as well!

You can check out the full press release and Sonic the Hedgehog level trailer below!

Acquiring the NES Classic Edition

I’m glad my son is still 4 years  old so I don’t have to be afraid of him seeing this post.

I know so many of you have either gone out of your way or are still trying to get your hands on the NES Classic Edition and I just wanted to share my experience. As someone who has been buying video game systems since I was old enough to have a job and was given the original NES as a Christmas present when I was 7, I have to say I was extremely excited to hear Nintendo would be releasing the NES Classic Edition, packaged with 30 games for the very fair price of $60 (basically $2 a game).

What I was not expecting and wasn’t happy to hear was how difficult Nintendo would be making the system to get. There were no preorders (virtually unheard of in today’s world) and the system would apparently be very short stocked. Now Im not going to knock Nintendo because Ive almost always had wonderful interactions with them but it does seem odd that they would have underestimated the appeal of such a nostalgic product that makes a perfect Christmas present for both adults looking to relive their childhood and kids who need to be introduced to the classics their parents grew up on.

Those facts aside Nintendo clearly has the hot item of Christmas 2016 on its hands and hopefully they will be able to get more of them produced for fans who are looking to have one under the tree this year.

Personally, I was away on an overnight trip to Kalahari Waterpark Resort (A really fun family getaway) the day the system released and although that could have spelled disaster for my chances…..thanks to my days sleeping outside of stores for new sneaker and video game releases I was ready for the task.

I woke up at 5am in the pitch black hotel room and snuck out the door as my wife and kids slept peacefully. I then ventured in the cold November air to a local Walmart which my GPS guided me to in the Poconos and to my relief there were only 4 people on line. I hopped on line and had a nice chat with some other fans (all parents waiting to bring home this piece of their childhood to their kids) as we waited for the store to open.

Thankfully everyone involved was cool and the store handled the line well informing us that there were only 12 NES Classic systems available and it would be one per person. I grabbed my system and as the sun rose I drove back to the hotel with my prize in hand very happy that I could give my little guy what has clearly become the “must have” gift of 2016.

I have to say I’ve found it fascinating to see this $60 piece of nostalgia, which is basically just an official emulator, sell for over $500 on Ebay. Even the $10 extra controller (Which should have been included) and $10 extension cord (Shouldn’t be needed. The controller should be longer) are selling for extremely high prices. All I’ll say is if you have the system, don’t be jerk about it and be thankful you got your hands on it ….and if you don’t have it yet, don’t go crazy, there will be more available soon and these are all games that have been around for over 30 years so just breathe and if you really want it Im sure it will be yours soon enough.15042048_10157715414785582_4447189213294839539_o
